Purple Rose Home tent sale is back in August

(Photos of previous tent sales do not reflect the specific items we'll have for sale this year. See some of the items we will have below.)

A longtime Purple Rose Home tradition returns Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 26 to 29, 2021 – our (mostly) annual tent sale! Hours are 9-4 Thurs-Sat and 11-2 Sunday. Yes, Rose Buds, under the big top there will be items for all seasons of modern farmhouse décor up to 75 percent off. Get reminders via our Facebook event here.

We decided to host the sale outside our shop at 140 Main St., Northborough, MA, the week before many schools go back in session to give you Rose Buds an opportunity to “make a day of it.” Read on for suggestions on eating, drinking and local shopping.

But first, the tent sale: Yes, there will be Christmas décor available. We know it’s still summer, but Christmas items were sooo popular when we had a tent sale in September, so we’ll have garland and trimmings and ornaments and all the stuff that makes us smile in preparation for the holidays.

(To be honest, I don’t attend Christmas in July parties, but I’m happy to offer Christmastime décor when it’s still pool season, if that’s what makes Rose Buds happy!)

Fall is right around the corner, so we’ll have autumn-toned items, too. There will also be pieces from our spring 2021 collection and some summer fun accessories. You can expect:

  • Modern farmhouse furniture
  • Boho-style candle holders
  • Lamps
  • Faux greenery
  • Throw pillows
  • Throw blankets
  • Many more categories of items we’re still discovering!

Here are some of the specific items we'll have:

Modern Stripe Cement Planter Small and Medium

Faux Bois Concrete Square Pot 3 Sizes

Hand Carved Wooden Candlesticks

Whitewashed Terracotta Hanging Pots 2 Sizes

Posey White Distressed Candelabra

Monteray Woven Lantern

Naomi Pom Pom Pillow Ivory

If you’re going to make a day of it, here are some fantastic local spots I suggest you check out while you’re in the neighborhood:

C'est La Vie Bistro, at 30 Main St., has breakfast and lunch options, including lots of yummy coffees, teas and smoothies for extra energy as you shop the sale. And if you’re in a French bistro, how can you not try a light and fluffy crêpe? They’ve got sweet and savory with everything from salted whisky caramel to ham and brie. Delish!

We love places with some funky character, too, so swing by Lalajava at 290 W. Main St. #12 for some Caribbean- and reggae-themed vibes - and a succulent mug of java. Oh, and did I mention they have a grilled cheese bar? It’s a super-popular local option. Don’t forget to say “hey” to their sweet mascot pooch, Kona. (Owner Lala is a spitfire, too!)

Looking for something a little harder than coffee? The Fix Burger Bar at 139 Lakeside Ave. offers some incredible burgers as well as loads of New England craft beers on tap.

Since you’re making a day of it, you may want to venture over to Nashoba Valley Winery, Distillery, Brewery and Restaurant at 100 Wattaquadock Hill Road in nearby Bolton, MA, for some wine and spirits and nibbles.

While you’re in the shopping mood, head over to meet Nina at Moon River Botanicals, a charming modern plant shop on 291 Main St., here in Northborough. They do some fun Instagram Story sales, so be sure and give them a follow to see the deals. The variety of greens inside always makes me smile and it’s hard for me to leave without picking up a new plant.

You’ll also see Kerry, Nina’s Mom, at Yellicks Farm, at 238 Hudson St. in Northborough, where you’ll find a bounty of delicious fresh produce items such as blueberries, peaches, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. Kerry also grows some gorgeous fresh flowers if you’re looking for a bouquet to take home.

Looking for some handcrafted gifts while you’re out and about? We adore The Haberdash, a darling spot at 77 Main St. in Hudson. If you’re into boho style, they have some cute seasonal women’s wear.

You’ll also want to visit Vintage Anthropology at 20 Main St. #2 in Hudson. It’s a great lifestyle shop with lots of vintage and modern décor items. They also do interior design services.

Writing this post is making me hungry and want to shop but I’ve got a tent sale to arrange, so I’m going to get back to it. The Purple Rose Home shop will be open as well, during the tent sale. Can’t wait to see you there, Rose Buds!
